Policy Research Advisor (One Year Term)

The Paqqjamik Naalangniq, Nunavut SPOR Support Unit (NU SPOR), hosted by Qaujigiartiit Health Research Centre is hiring a Policy Research Advisor to help strengthen Inuit-led, patient-oriented research across Nunavut.

The successful applicant will be working with our dynamic and creative team in Iqaluit and across Nunavut to lead research, policy and program initiatives to fulfill the mandate of the Nunavut SPOR SUPPORT Unit. The incumbent is responsible for the development and implementation of methods related to health program research and policy evaluation in collaboration with community-oriented partners across Nunavut.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage communities and partners to support NU SPOR research initiatives.
  • Conduct literature reviews, interviews, surveys, and sharing circles.
  • Support data collection, analysis, and dissemination of findings.
  • Draft research and policy materials, including briefs, summaries, and funding proposals.
  • Coordinate project logistics and ensure compliance with ethical and cultural protocols.
  • Provide updates, reports, and strategic support to the NU SPOR team.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of residency in Nunavut; beneficiaries and long-term Nunavummiut prioritized.
  • Postsecondary education in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Strong understanding of Inuit culture, community contexts, and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit.
  • Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods; ability to analyze and synthesize information.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; Inuktitut language skills are an asset.
  • Excellent planning, organization, and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, adapt to diverse community contexts, and use a strengths-based approach.
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, and general computer applications.

Facilities Manager (Part-Time, Evenings and Weekends)

Qaujigiartiit Health Research Centre is hiring a Facilities Manager (Part-Time, Evenings and Weekends) to help ensure the safety, cleanliness, and smooth operation of our community spaces in Iqaluit.

This role supports evening and weekend programs and events by overseeing building maintenance, managing facility bookings, and providing on-site assistance as needed. The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, and enjoys working independently to keep facilities secure, welcoming, and ready for use.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular building checks to ensure safety, cleanliness, and operational readiness
  • Coordinate with maintenance contractors for timely repairs and upkeep
  • Support evening and weekend programming by preparing spaces and assisting user groups
  • Maintain scheduling and communication through Google Calendar and email
  • Respond to facility needs during off-hours and ensure compliance with safety standards

Qualifications

  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
  • Experience with building operations or facility maintenance
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Knowledge of building safety standards and maintenance coordination
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Must be available evenings, weekends, and on-call as needed
  • Vulnerable Sector/Criminal Record Check required

Program Evaluator and Data Analyst

Qaujigiartiit Health Research Centre is hiring a Program Evaluator and Data Analyst to support community-led health research and program evaluation across Nunavut. Based in Iqaluit, this role contributes to data collection, analysis, reporting, and proposal development in support of Inuit wellbeing and community wellness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect, analyze, and summarize data from community health programs
  • Contribute to research and evaluation proposals and reporting
  • Work with Qaujigiartiit’s team and partners to support evaluation across Nunavut
  • Travel to communities as needed to support community-led research

Qualifications

  • Experience in data analysis, research, or project coordination
  • Strong writing and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with Nunavut’s communities and health systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Lived in Nunavut for at least three years
  • Inuktitut is an asset
  • Criminal record check required
  • Inuit beneficiaries and long-term Nunavummiut will be prioritized

Community Coordinator

The Paqqjamik Naalangniq, Nunavut SPOR Support Unit, hosted by Qaujigiartiit Health Research Centre is hiring a Community Coordinator to help strengthen Inuit-led, patient-oriented research across Nunavut.

The Community Coordinator will work closely with community members, researchers, and health system partners to support relationship-building, engagement, and communications that ensure Inuit voices and priorities guide all research activities.

Location: Iqaluit or other Nunavut community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate community outreach and engagement activities across Nunavut
  • Support knowledge sharing between communities, researchers, and health partners
  • Assist with event planning, communications, and project coordination
  • Promote ethical research grounded in Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit

Qualifications

  • Experience working in or with Nunavut communities
  • Strong communication, coordination, and organizational skills
  • Passion for community wellbeing and Inuit self-determination in research
  • Inuktitut language skills are a strong asset

This is a community-based research ethics review board tasked with reviewing research projects at our centre. Your life experience in Nunavut is what we value most—no prior experience in research ethics is necessary and all training is provided. The only requirement is that members must be tied to and care about our communities.
